Mentioned on the SCFOJ Blog…
August 1st, 2007Thanks much to the hard workers over at the Sierra Club Falls of the James (SCFOJ) blog for mentioning RFW in a comprehensive entry that discusses green initiatives in Chicago.
We found the mention of the Center for Neighborhood Technology particularly interesting as it highlights specific projects involving integrating technology into neighborhoods. For example, with the beginning and continuous expansion of a regional wireless freenet, residents are able to access the Internet from anywhere there’s a nearby node. That type of access allows them to, theoretically, check out a “car share” calendar and place requests for time. In addition, citizens could monitor the real-time weather system which enables the control of water runoff and find out where the water is best being utilized to ensure green space is maintained.
CNT also had this little gem of a PDF file on their website: Integrating Community Wireless Networks.
All kinds of ideas related to technology and how it can be best used to serve Richmond.
